WebSylvester is back

Why I rebuilt the site from scratch, which tools I picked and what I'll be writing about here.

I left the site I launched a year ago empty for a long time. This time I rebuilt it from scratch around sharing: my projects and writing about the things I’m into.

Why start over?

The old site rendered everything in the browser with data that loaded later. It was slow and made it hard for search engines to see the content. On the new site every page is prepared as HTML ahead of time.

The stack

  • Astro: a fast, SEO-friendly framework for content sites.
  • Keystatic: an admin panel for editing posts in the browser, with no database.
  • Markdown: posts are stored as plain text files, so nothing disappears if a service shuts down.

Adding a post really is just a file like this:

Hello world!

What’s coming

  1. Experiments with AI and AI tools
  2. Notes on web and game development
  3. Thoughts on design
  4. The stories behind my own projects, like Kiyora and AnatoliAtlas
